Scavenger Hunt Sunday

It has been quite some time since I have managed to join in with Ashley Sisk's Scavenger Hunt Sunday meme but I am happy to say I was able to capture most of the prompts this week.

lace
Okay so maybe this is a stretch but, Friday it snowed and when I looked out the window the snow on the top of the bushes reminded me of a lace tablecloth.

wood

bling

I considered taking a bling shot of jewelry or something sparkly for this prompt but I wanted to share this snowman all blinged out for yesterday's homecoming. I thought about not using it as I didn't snap the shot, I had my daughter snap it with her phone as I was saving the battery life of my camera. I had taken shots of the kids building the snowman when I realized my batteries were getting low and I had to shut my camera off so they wouldn't die before we got up on the pier. More of the homecoming can be seen here.

fuzzy
Or should I say warm fuzzy, because it was surely a very warm fuzzy feeling watching the sailors reunite with their families.

Fabric
I know it isn't very creative but I love this shot of our dog with his soft fabric blanket. He loves to curl up with anything fabric, blanket, shirt or whatever he can find on his level.

So there it is, now please hop over to Ashley's and see what everyone else has found:

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

This weeks scavenger hunt was definitely challenging. I am happy to say I did manage to get each of the photographs this week without having to go into my archives.

Going back in time:
At first I was thinking of photographing some historical building or using shots of some antique jewelry I had taken but decided that this was a much better shot for this prompt. Every time I look at the shelf on my desk this is what I see and it takes me back in time to some special days.

Something just for me:
This prompt was the hardest one for me. Not having any idea what to photography I decided to go back through this weeks photographs and find one that I taken or altered just for my own personal satisfaction. Of all the photos this was the only one that was done just for me.

Best part of my day:
There are so many good parts of my day but my favorite has always been after the sun sets.

Night & Day:

Look up:
I would have loved to see what bird built such a big nest.

Be sure to stop over at Ashley Sisks to check out what everyone else found.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

It has been a few weeks since I have participated in this fun blog hop so I am rather excited to be contributing today. I hope you enjoy my interpretations. This weeks prompts were: Paint, Green, Eyelashes, Shapes and Clouds.

Paint:
With a few days leave my son-in-law decided to pull out his models and do a bit of painting.

Green:
I did get a few other shots for green, but for weeks I have been wanting to post this shot of a green flag. So I hope no one minds I pulled from my archives for this prompt.

Eyelashes:
Wanting to capture a unique red white and blue shot a shot for this prompt I convinced my daughter to put on make up and let me photograph her eyes.

Shapes:
This one took a bit more thinking, as I wanted to capture more than just one or two shapes. Here I found circles, rectangles and even a triangle.

Clouds:
Who can resist a few puffy white clouds, I sure can't.
Please be sure to check out the other submissions at:

Scavenger Hunt Sunday: Family & Friends

This weeks prompts for the hunt lended themselves very well to the a theme of family and friends. Most of these photos were taken this week.

The beach is a great place for families to cool down on a hot evening.

Sweet
This is from my archives. I really miss this sweet little boy.

Hanging Around
Taken last Saturday night while the family was hanging around playing card games.

Funny Face
Last Sunday my niece became rather animated when we came across this giant crab head.

Space
My dog is such a gentleman he gives the cat plenty of space at least for a little while.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday on Tuesday

I had almost given up participating in this weeks scavenger hunt. This weeks prompts were very challenging and I had not gotten out to hunt for them until today. I found all but one prompt. For that prompt I will be pulling from my archives. Here are my submissions:

Meet me on the corner:

Mother nature meets technology:
I shot this photo last week during OpSail 2012. The plain in the photo is the Hawkeye. The satellite on the Hawkeye records all possible dangers including storms and relays that information to naval ships.

One step at a time:
When I was thinking of this prompt the first thought that came to mind was a baby's first step. Having no baby's to photography I changed my train of thought. It occurred to me that going off to college is the first step to independence for many. So here is nearby Old Dominion University.

What's wrong with this picture:
This is a two for one.

While some may think the 'hats' are the wrong part of this photo they are not the reason I chose this for this prompt. When I took the shot we were obviously goofing around and I didn't set the angle up correctly, thus the two eyes framed in one lens of the glasses.

Standing tall:
Every time I see old growth trees I am impressed by how long they have stood tall against the elements and man.
So there it is folks, my submissions for this weeks challenges. Now please be sure to click the button to hop over and check out what others have found.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday on Monday

Due to the rain this last week my series was shot indoors. Although I did decide to pull from my archives for a nice unedited scenic shot.

Shadow
As my daughter tells me 'His name is NOT Sonic, this is Shadow!'
Keys
These are my late husbands Memory Keys. The Peterbuilt key is to the first semi he drove, The Kenworth key is to the his the first KW we owned and the ford key is to his F150 that he bought to escort oversized loads after he could no long drive the semi truck himself. The last key is a Caterpillar master key. The one legged pirate Lego man was the mascot for his Pilot car service which was named Peg Leg Escort. The hat is his Navy hat our son gave him when he first joined the navy.

Smile
I caught this gentleman's smile while taking a shot of my daughter and granddaughter. I don't know if he was smiling at some personal joy, or if he was smiling at the sight of my youngest daughter carrying her niece across the sky walk. Go here to see the rest of this shot.

Unedited
This is the Sioux Falls, SD clock tower at sunrise.

Fish
Or should I say Starfish.

I hope you have enjoyed my scavenger hunt submissions, it was quiet interesting finding them while confined to the house. Click the link at the top to visit more submissions or to play along.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday:

I can't believe a week has gone by already, although it does goes fast when you sleep most of it away. Although I was able to get a few shots taken before the flu landed me in bed for the rest of the week, I only got one for this challenge. So I hunted through my archives and found a few fun shots for this weeks prompts.

Strike a Pose:
My youngest granddaughter is always ready and willing to strike a pose. I just couldn't pass up taking a shot of her posing for her mom.
I would also like to share this shot of one of my favorite clients. Even though our sessions are very relaxed and lean more toward candid sessions this mother and daughter are great at striking poses that look candid.

Footwear:
The first shot for this prompt I actually did take at the beginning of this week.  Thankfully the majority of our ice and snow is now gone. Maybe I will get a chance to wear a pair of shoes like in the second shot which was taken with my cell phone a few weeks back.

Hobby:
I decided to share a college that shows off one of my many hobbies. I enjoy designing and creating historically dressed dolls. This dolls' dress and bonnet were inspired by an 1880's french walking outfit. The outfit and accessories including shoes are all hand stitched.

Shiny:
Have you ever noticed that the inside of playground equipment can be very shiny?

Color Me Green:
This is Mr. Todd, he was preforming last week and I was lucky enough to not only get to hear him preform but also to get some great shots. This photo is not altered the strobe lights changed colors during the show.

Next Weeks Prompts:
Facial Feature (Sacha's suggestion)
Shadow (Sacha's suggestion)
Spicy (Kat's suggestion)
Gold (Kat's suggestion)
Fabric (Christian's suggestion)

Scavenger Hunt Sunday: It's A Wild Life

Time for the fun Scavenger Hunt Sunday. This weeks prompts were so much fun.
Enjoy!

Sunset
I did attempt to get out at sunset this week but with the freezing cold and the wind I chickened out so my sunset submission is from my archives.

Black and White
Generally I shoot full color and then switch only a few shots to b/w during processing. However, I did set my camera to monochrome for a series of photographs this week. This was my favorite.

A Day in My Life
After a great deal of thought I chose to capture an abstract photo that depicts my rather wild, crazy and colorful daily life. Focusing on my rather wild bedroom curtains I used a slow shutter speed and manual movement of the camera to capture a number of really cool abstracts. This is the one that I feel most depicts my daily life.

Four
When I read the suggestion for this prompt I was pretty excited because this is a prompt where I can share my passion for photographic art.  My submission is a composite multiplicity photo created this week using four different photographs taken specifically for this purpose early last fall.

Colorful
I just loved the look of so many of the shots I took trying to capture my wild life I decided to share another one as my shot for colorful. I call this one Wild Child.

Next weeks prompts:
Smile (Saun's suggestion)
Stand Alone (Saun's suggestion)
Rusty or Something Old (Saun's suggestion)
Artificial (Terrie's suggestion)
Repeating Pattern (Terrie's suggestion)

I hope you have enjoyed my photographs and will join us at Ashley Sisk's just click on the button below.
