I See Green!

I couldn't resist taking a cell phone macro when I spotted this potted plant. 

It's GREEN!

Oh it was so nice to see green again... even if it was inside.

Raindrops N Flowers

After an evening shower earlier this week I decided to go out and try and capture some raindrops and hopefully a nice reflection or two. Here is what I managed to get.

Macro Monday: Trapped

A few weeks ago while I was capturing shots of the ocean I noticed these sea shells trapped between these seaweed covered posts.

Wanting to capture the shells close but worried about getting my camera all wet I got in as close as was safe.

One day I will get that awesome zoom lens so that I can capture shots like this from a distance, instead of cropping the image to the desired shot.

Oh For A Good Macro Lens

Getting the photo I want with the equipment I have is sometimes a challenge. During times like this I am glad to be able to crop the image to obtain the desired framing. While this doesn't work well if I want to do full size prints, it serves the purpose for digital and smaller prints. For example take this lovely lawn ornament.  I was intrigued by the lines and vivid colors, and really wanted to focus on small sections. However the ornament was hanging in a tree in someones backyard. The first three images I was able to capture with my camera but to get the last two I had to crop the original image to the desired composition.

 

 

Until some good fairie brings me one of these, I guess this will have to do.

Macro Monday: It's All in the Eyes

It has been a while since I did any real close up shots but I just couldn't resist these two.

 Can you see the laughter in her eyes? I forgot to tell her I was going to get in close for a shot of her beautiful eyes and she jumped as the camera got close. But once she knew why I was coming in so close she was all excited to see how the photo would turn out. I also love that I was able to capture a reflection of the two other models and their shadows as well as a reflection of my shadow.

With this one I zoomed in instead of getting extra close. I learned something important with this shot as well and that is to make sure the model remembers to clean their glasses. I did have to do a bit of clean up on this shot to remove dust particles from her glasses.

Dragon Fly's

Yesterday I was practicing close ups with my new camera and captured these dragon fly shots. Although I still really want to get a nice macro lens for my camera, I am happy that I can still get some decent close ups with the 18-55mm lens I have.

I would love to have gotten closer but until I get a macro lens this will have to do or I will have to use my Canon Power Shot.

Macro Monday: Frog :0

 A few years ago while visiting my mother in Southern California I took this macro while on a walk. The flower was about the size of a dime and I didn't see the little critter until I uploaded the image to my computer.
