Patiently Awaiting Spring

With temps in the mid 60's last Friday was the perfect day for a bit of nature photography. Of all the photos I took these two macro shots are my favorites.
As I was focusing in on the bud I noticed the beautiful golden colors and distinct lines created in the blur of the other sappers and the tree, so while my cameras focus was the bud, mine was the background.
Now my thoughts as I on that beautiful day.

Monday Morning Macros

Mmmm...
Okay, so that title is a bit lame.
All I can say is;
It is Monday morning after all!

How about a closer look at that little critter?

Macro Monday: Caught Off Gaurd

I am a sucker for beautiful delicate flowers, especially those in vibrant red. So when I saw these pretty little roses near a marble mausoleums I couldn't help but snap a few quick macro shots.

However, a subtle movement in the corner of my eye soon caught me off guard when this amazing creature moved.

Needless to say I promptly forgot all about photographing the delicate roses and tried to capture this spider and his fantastic web. If you look just below his front legs it almost appears as if the web is sewn together with a tight but slightly messy cross stitch.
This strong web almost looked like delicate lace.
While I am not afraid of spiders and I find some of them rather intriguing I do like to keep a safe distance. Thank goodness I was able to zoom in some with my lens.

Macro Monday: All Tied Up

While aboard a Coast Guard ship I was drawn to these ropes. Could it be that they held a subconscious meaning for me? Some days it sure feels as if I am all tied up. The more conscious attraction though was the lighting and texture that gave the rope such depth.

Macro Monday: Albino Spider

This little guy must like going for rides. He sat on the lawnmower the entire time my son-in-law was mowing the yard, and even stayed for me to take his photograph.

Macro Monday: Mistletoe or Holly?

As much as I love nature, plants and trees I am really not very knowledgeable when it comes to plants and trees. So you can imagine my delight when I came across this tree while on my walk the other day.

I actually took a double take, because the leaves growing on the trunk of this tree just didn't seem to be the same as the ones on the trees branches.

Going in closer I realized I have found a growth of what appears to be mistletoe. So after a bit of research to learn more about mistletoe, I discovered some very interesting facts. Like that it is a parasite that can kill the host tree. But it can also be good for the environment. How very odd.

Have a wonderful week everyone!

Update: Pat brought to my attention that this looks more like Holly. See how much I know about plants. If someone with tree know how could clear this up for me I would be very appreciative.
