Scavenger Hunt Sunday on Monday

In an attempt to get back on track I headed over to Ashley Sisks blog to check out one of my favorite photography blog hops. It has been some time since I last participated but I was happy to see it was still going strong. So here are my interpretations of the prompts she gave for this last Sunday's hunt.

Photographers Choice
For this prompt I decided on this fun shot I took with my new cell phone while waiting in the car for my son in law to get off work the other day. Oh, yes Donald is a permanent passenger in my daughters car.

Lunch
hmmm, not the most creative but this is what I was eating for lunch while I was reading this weeks prompts. It is nothing special. I just threw some left over taco meat in a skillet with some frozen Potato's O'Brien, heated it up and tossed a bit of cheese on top and let that melt. Add a touch of salsa and walla lunch.

Starts with the letter G
This one was extra easy.  I will be GOING on a little trip next week to visit my in-laws. Although now looking at it, it really isn't very creative. I just took a photo of the printed itinerary.

My Town
Another not so creative shot. Looking out the window at our cold street. The temp at the time of the shot was about eight below zero! And that isn't factoring in the wind.

Words to live by
I took this the other day and shared it HERE without words, now here it is with what I feel are great words to live by.

I hope you have enjoyed my interpretations and will head over to Ashley's to join in the fun.

SHS: Arizona Adventure

I am so glad I decided to stop on by Ashley's Scavenger Hunt Sunday post before putting together today's post. As it turns out I was easily able to find each of the prompts from pictures taken this past week while I was on vacation in Arizona. So here they are:

Wild
Although wild the deer near my In-Laws home are very tame and wander almost up to the front door.

Welcome
Soft lights and open arms welcomed me on my arrival at my In-Laws home in Northern Arizona.

Adventure
My husband often spoke of the vacations with his parents as wild adventures and now after a week exploring Northern Arizona with them as guides I completely understand.

Vibrant
When we first got to the Grand Canyon I was a little disappointed that although the rock formations were amazing it all looked very dull. Then as the sun moved across the sky and the angle of the rays changed the canyon leaped to life with vibrant hues of blue, purple, red, orange and green.

Classic
In our adventures we visited this quaint shopping center built in the style of a classic Mexican village.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

What better way to get back on track than to join up with two of my favorite blog memes; Ashley Sisk's Scavenger Hunt Sunday and James' Weekend Reflection. So, here we go with out any big fan fare.

Yellow:

Getting Ready:
While the city is getting ready for winter laying new drain pipes, this little guy was having an exciting time watching the construction.

Bright:

Teeny Tiny:
How about a teeny tiny reflection of myself in a raindrop?

Connections:
Alright this may be a stretch, but seeing this house makes me wonder what type of connection the architect was trying to impart. While I love architecture I am sadly not very good with the names of architectural styles, but this too me looks like a Dutch farmhouse / English castle. Maybe the family was English and Dutch? Or, perhaps the pampered daughter of the house convinced mom and dad she needed a castle tower to play in.

There it is folks. Please be sure to stop on by Ashley and Jame's blogs and join in the fun.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

It has been a while since I was able to join in the fun of Scavenger Hunt Sunday. This photo prompt meme is both fun and challenging. Here are my interpretations for this week and if you enjoy these please pop over to Ashley Sisk's blog and join the fun.

Monochromatic:
This is not the monochromatic shot I wanted to find but it is the only one I liked that I found.  This is not a black and white shot nor even a black and white conversion. The image is in color, it just happens that the paint was such a dirty white as to be almost grey.

Starts with the letter:
The M from Max's bar and grill.

Upside down:
I had yet to decide what I was going to use for this prompt when I went to the park with two of my grandchildren. I told them I still needed to find a good shot for upside down when my grandson said how about this. So of course I took a shot of his upside down pose.
Then I suggested my granddaughter swing high and lean over back so I could get a shot of her almost upside down  in the air. Well, unfortunately she is afraid of heights so we compromised. I laid on the ground on my back in the path of the swing as she swung upside down on her tummy. Thankfully the seat of this particular swing was high off the ground she didn't have to swing high for me to get this shot.

Hair:
This weekend my two daughters and I died our hair, and I had every intention of taking fun shot that included all three of us. However, my oldest daughter got sick and isn't up to posing for the shot I want. So I am pulling this one I took of her hair last time we died her hair from my archives.

Soft:
Don't the petals on this flower look soft as velvet?

Next weeks prompts:

1) Kiss
2) Askew
3) Fragrant
4) Simple
5) Plant

Scavenger Hunt Sunday on Monday

Spending all of last week so focused on OpSail and Harborfest I thought I would have to forgo taking part in Scavenger Hunt Sunday. I am happy to say though that while going through the photos taken I realized that I did find all but one of the prompts. For the one I didn't find I will be pulling from my archives. So without any further delay here are my submissions.

Travel
One day I would love to travel on a ship like this.

Silly

Black and White

Spots
I do wish I had been lower when taking this shot, as it would have been so much better with the sun directly behind Blackbeard's head. Although I was pleased with the sun spot around his hand.

Paper
I sure hope that digital books don't replace paper. This shot is from my archives.
Please be sure to click below to visit Ashley Sisk's and others as they share their finds for this week.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

Welcome to one of my favorite photography prompt memes.
This weeks prompts were more challenging than I had at first thought they would be. I am glad to say I managed to finish the challenge without having to draw from my archives. So here we go.
Beneath Your Feet:
All week I struggled over this prompt. Of course I was taking it too literal. I kept taking pictures of what was under my feet, with of course my ugly feet in the photo. Then while going through this weeks photos I saw this and was reminded how I found it. I am sometimes surprised by what I step on while my eye is glued to the viewfinder.

Capturing Movement:
This week I captured a number of really fun movement shots. It was actually pretty hard for me to decide which one to use. After a bit of arguing with myself the jet skis won.

Texture:
I find textures fun and interesting to photograph, but when I saw this I couldn't resist capturing it and using it for this prompt.

Face Your Fears:
Awwww, and for the most difficult of all the prompts. I am lucky to have few fears so I was at a total loss. Then while headed into down town Norfolk for some much awaited photo time I saw this.
See it there on the left. That little red pump! Now I don't know about you but that little light strikes a bit of fear into me when I am traveling in an area that I am not familiar with. So I though hey this could be my fear shot. Then it dawned on me for it to truly be a FACE your fear I would have to continue into down town where I had no idea where a gas station was or I could turn around and go back to the station a few miles back and find a different photo for this prompt. Well, I turned around. So once again I was at a loss. I thought, alright so what else do I fear... having my photo taken when I am not 'PUT TOGETHER' . . .  nope I didn't face that one either. So that left taking a photograph of a stranger from a distance of less than two feet. Well here you go I did face this one, and it wasn't bad. I didn't get caught.

Currently:
Currently I am having a blast with my grandchildren.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday:

This weeks prompts were both challenging and fun. I hope you enjoy viewing these as much as I did capturing them. So without further delay here are my submissions.

Sidewalk
You just never know what you may find while taking a walk in a quiet neighborhood.

In case you are wondering here is a shot of the full find.

Inspiring
What better to inspire than a bottle of glow in the dark bubbles. We were disappointed that the bubbles didn't really glow. However we still had a lot of fun, and were inspired by the glowing solution. I got a number of rather abstract shots like this one.
Time
When I was taking this shot I couldn't help but wonder how old this tree is and how much time it took to grow so magnificently.

Close Up
My grandson and I spread a blanket in their backyard and laid on our stomachs to find this pretty little belly flower.

With Mirror
Here is another one of the inspired shots with the glow in the dark bubble solution. This time using a mirror to block the background and reflect more of the grass spattered with glow in the dark solution. This one is my favorite.
