Weekend Reflections: Around the Globe

This giant globe at the Omaha Zoo was so cool. The flow of the fountain provided the momentum to keep the globe turning very slowly just like the earth. The reflection in the globe fell in the ocean on the globes map.

Autumn Leaves

We are so blessed that this year Fall has decided to stick around a bit longer than it normally does. Here are a few shots of the beautiful colors.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday Submissions

What a wild week! I had to pull a few from my archives for this weeks challenges. So without any further chit chat here are my submissions.

Abstract
I just loved the way the shadow of the railing looked on these stairs.

Round (Paper Heart Camera prompt)
Found this cool looking skylight at the mall Saturday.

Fire (Pieni Lintu's suggestion)
This fire shot is not mine but is my daughters. She went with me one day and was looking for faces and came across this one. I thought it was pretty cute. She wanted me to use it in this post for the face prompt. But since I didn't manage to get a single shot I liked for the fire prompt and don't have a single fire shot in my archives, I figured I would throw it in here and share her work.

Seeing Faces in Strange/Unexpected Places (Pieni Lintu's suggestion)
Hope you can see the two faces I saw in this reflection of the kiosks in the mall. One is in the upper right corner and the other is center bottom.

Stars (Pieni Lintu's suggestion)
For this prompt I chose to pull from my archives of completed photographic artwork. This collage is made up of photographs I took of my 'Star', my grandson.

Well there you have it. Visit Ashely's Scavenger Hunt Sunday to join in the fun.
Next weeks prompts are:
  1. Words
  2. Under (Paper Heart Camera prompt)
  3. Orange (Shades of Autumn prompt)
  4. Fly (Abby's suggestion)
  5. Always Look on the Bright Side (Anika's suggestion)

Mother Nature and Her Young Ones

After taking 800 photographs for my woodland fantasy art project my models decided to relax and I managed to capture some sweet shots.

Not sure what that look is on Mother Natures face but I do love this last shot.

Random Fall Flowers

Last week I had the pleasure of finding these few flowers still lingering in the cool fall temperatures.

I almost missed this little guy he was hiding so well.

Autumn does not seem to be in as much of a hurry to pass us by, so hopefully I will be able to find a few more lovely flowers before the snow flies.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday Submissions

Welcome to my submissions for Scavenger Hunt Sunday. We went on a road trip to see Mount Rushmore this last weekend and I decided to wait for the trip to look for this weeks prompts.

Inspired by a Book or Movie
One of my all time favorite movies is Dances With Wolves, so of course on our way home we had to stop at 1880 Town in Murdo, SD where the movie was filmed. We got to tour the old town and even view some of the props from the movie, like this one.

Brown (Paper Heart Camera prompt)
The movie props are housed in the top story of this unique old domed barn.

Hazy (Olivia's suggestion)
It was such a nice weekend there really wasn't much haze. I wanted to get a hazy shot of steam rising up from the Missouri river but unfortunately there was no room for me to pull over on the highway at that location. One of the major drawbacks of being the driver, you miss so many cool shots. I also missed a shot of smoke rising from the hills in the distance. So for the hazy prompt I have gone back into my archives and found one of the few hazy shots I have.
I love the way the fog just hangs over the river.

Coffee or Tea (Olivia's suggestion)
Now back to photos from my trip.
If you haven't already heard Wall Drugs is home to the 5 cent Coffee and Free Ice Water. The owners of this tiny town drug store made it big with the combination of Burma Shave style signs and offering free ice water and 5 cent coffee.

Linger (Olivia's suggestion)
If you ever have the chance to visit Custer State Park near Mt. Rushmore unless you want to get kissed by a mule don't linger too long on the wildlife loop. This guy even tried to eat my mirror.
I had a wonderful time and will be sharing some of the wonderful photos I took on our trip throughout the next week.

If you would like to join in and play along here are next weeks prompts:
