Random Summer Shots

This summer has flown past in such a whirl wind of activity, with the last few weeks busier than ever. As Autumn approaches I hope to get myself back to some semblance of routine but for now here are some shots from this summer that I have been wanting to share.

One thing I am sure not to forget from this summer is the heat and humidity of Virginia. Although I am not a beer drinker I was very tempted to run off with all this ice.
Braving the heat I was drawn to the many ships, both big and small.
With the weather cooling down I am looking forward to exploring this beautiful city at much greater length.
Although the kids will soon be starting school I am hoping we will still find plenty of time for long walks and photo hunts or as my grandson calls them park hunts.

So I say ado to summer and welcome the coming Autumn with excitement.

Raindrops N Flowers

After an evening shower earlier this week I decided to go out and try and capture some raindrops and hopefully a nice reflection or two. Here is what I managed to get.

Summer Sun

Back in July I had the opportunity to meet with some other members of a photography group I belong to and capture the sun setting off the Virginia coast. When I uploaded the files to my computer I put them in a folder for the photography group and then forgot where I had saved them. Backing up my files for last month I came across them and decided I would share them before I forgot again.

Because the weather had been so hot I played with one of the shots to see if I could get an altered image that would speak to the heat we were experiencing. Although the result is unrealistic I like it expresses the heat of the summer.

Macro Monday: Caught Off Gaurd

I am a sucker for beautiful delicate flowers, especially those in vibrant red. So when I saw these pretty little roses near a marble mausoleums I couldn't help but snap a few quick macro shots.

However, a subtle movement in the corner of my eye soon caught me off guard when this amazing creature moved.

Needless to say I promptly forgot all about photographing the delicate roses and tried to capture this spider and his fantastic web. If you look just below his front legs it almost appears as if the web is sewn together with a tight but slightly messy cross stitch.
This strong web almost looked like delicate lace.
While I am not afraid of spiders and I find some of them rather intriguing I do like to keep a safe distance. Thank goodness I was able to zoom in some with my lens.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

This weeks scavenger hunt was definitely challenging. I am happy to say I did manage to get each of the photographs this week without having to go into my archives.

Going back in time:
At first I was thinking of photographing some historical building or using shots of some antique jewelry I had taken but decided that this was a much better shot for this prompt. Every time I look at the shelf on my desk this is what I see and it takes me back in time to some special days.

Something just for me:
This prompt was the hardest one for me. Not having any idea what to photography I decided to go back through this weeks photographs and find one that I taken or altered just for my own personal satisfaction. Of all the photos this was the only one that was done just for me.

Best part of my day:
There are so many good parts of my day but my favorite has always been after the sun sets.

Look up:
I would have loved to see what bird built such a big nest.

Horse Rides

Of the many things for children to do at yesterday's pick nick the horse back riding was one of my granddaughters favorite things. Which is amazing considering prior to this she was terrified of horses.
Horses are such fabulous creatures. This one even seemed to smile when I took his photo.
This lovely horse and his guide caught my eye while they were resting between rides.
