If someone would have told me even two years ago that my heart would race at the sight of steal I would have laughed. However, over that last few years I have been exploring a wider range of photographic subjects and now I tend to get rather excited about the oddest of things. Like this close up of the inside of a steal tube.
Be sure to click on the photo for a larger view, that way you get the full effect and can see the fine streaks of color in the metal.
Or these droplets of water on the windshield, which I shared here.
Then my mind say, 'hey these two would make a really cool composite art piece' and walla; The water drops photo becomes a hard light layer over the steal photo.
And that is how my abstract mind works, especially when shooting macro and abstract photographs. Now hop over to Lisa's Chaos and enjoy some of the great macro photos shared this week.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday
It has been quite some time since I have managed to join in with Ashley Sisk's Scavenger Hunt Sunday meme but I am happy to say I was able to capture most of the prompts this week.
wood
bling
I considered taking a bling shot of jewelry or something sparkly for this prompt but I wanted to share this snowman all blinged out for yesterday's homecoming. I thought about not using it as I didn't snap the shot, I had my daughter snap it with her phone as I was saving the battery life of my camera. I had taken shots of the kids building the snowman when I realized my batteries were getting low and I had to shut my camera off so they wouldn't die before we got up on the pier. More of the homecoming can be seen here.
fuzzy
Or should I say warm fuzzy, because it was surely a very warm fuzzy feeling watching the sailors reunite with their families.
Fabric
I know it isn't very creative but I love this shot of our dog with his soft fabric blanket. He loves to curl up with anything fabric, blanket, shirt or whatever he can find on his level.
lace
Okay so maybe this is a stretch but, Friday it snowed and when I looked out the window the snow on the top of the bushes reminded me of a lace tablecloth.

Nature Walk
One afternoon while my daughter and grandchildren were making a trip to the local library I tagged along. Although I love to read, the books were not the draw. Just behind the library is this small nature reserve, so while they were in finding books to read, I was wandering the paths with my camera. Here is a little of what I saw.

Winter Revelations
Yesterday morning as we headed out early to run a few errands the air didn't feel all that cold but the car windshield was completely iced over.
Sitting in the car waiting for the windshield to defrost I couldn't resist capturing a few abstract and macro shots.
Frozen Heart
Changing focus; above focus on the defrosting windshield, below focus on the tree.
Above I was drawn to the water droplets and variations in color. Then I noticed the tiny reflection of the tree in a number of the droplets so I got in closer for this macro.

When my daughter stepped out to clear the ice off the windshield wipers I just had to go for this abstract silhouette.

Random Round Up
Today's Random Round Up is comprised of photos taken over the course of last year that I some how never got around to sharing. With these photos I say goodbye to last year and hello to 2013. I also invite you to read my post Goodbye Eeyore! Hello 2013.
There were many moments of solitary quiet reflection both happy and sad.
Moments of beauty.
Moments of joy and laughter
Moments of great joy and sorrow, the circle of life.
Moments of excitement
And Pride!
Moments of peace.
Moments of inspiration!
Most importantly there were special times with loved ones.
Wishing all a healthy and prosperous 2013!
And now this weeks top shot to start the New Year off.
