Sunrise on the Prairie

I am not an early morning person so on the rare occasion that I am out and about at sunrise I am always in awe of it's beauty. I am so glad my daughter was driving last Friday morning so I was able to capture this series of photos while we traveled. I am having a hard time deciding which is my favorite but am leaning toward the first shot or the third shot. Which do you like best?

I was also glad that it was just our car and the motorcycle in the eastbound lanes so that my daughter was able to change lanes and even ride the white line for a few seconds so I could get the following shots from slightly different angles.
I was really worried that our dirty windshield would ruin the shots. Luckily I was able to clean up most of the squished bugs.

Of course I couldn't pass up the chance to try for some nice silhouette shots. Although the glare on the windshield messed up the first shot a bit, I still like the shot.

One of these days I am going to have to take some sunrise shots that aren't out the window of a traveling vehicle.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday on Monday

Due to the rain this last week my series was shot indoors. Although I did decide to pull from my archives for a nice unedited scenic shot.

Shadow
As my daughter tells me 'His name is NOT Sonic, this is Shadow!'
Keys
These are my late husbands Memory Keys. The Peterbuilt key is to the first semi he drove, The Kenworth key is to the his the first KW we owned and the ford key is to his F150 that he bought to escort oversized loads after he could no long drive the semi truck himself. The last key is a Caterpillar master key. The one legged pirate Lego man was the mascot for his Pilot car service which was named Peg Leg Escort. The hat is his Navy hat our son gave him when he first joined the navy.

Smile
I caught this gentleman's smile while taking a shot of my daughter and granddaughter. I don't know if he was smiling at some personal joy, or if he was smiling at the sight of my youngest daughter carrying her niece across the sky walk. Go here to see the rest of this shot.

Unedited
This is the Sioux Falls, SD clock tower at sunrise.

Fish
Or should I say Starfish.

I hope you have enjoyed my scavenger hunt submissions, it was quiet interesting finding them while confined to the house. Click the link at the top to visit more submissions or to play along.

Style or No Style?

I often here comments about a photographers style or aesthetics, and have even been ask what mine are. I am never quite sure how to answer that question. Generally my response is 'If it catches my eye, I photograph it". Sometimes the strangest of things catch my eye, like these orange cones.

A short time back, I came across a photo challenge where you were to go through your archives and determine what color you were drawn to and then photograph a color outside your comfort zone. They even gave a sample of how to combine the photos into a grouping to see what colors were most frequent. In their sample one color was clearly predominate in each photo. I went through my archives and could not put together anything like what I was shown. Instead I came up with the collage seen on the left here.
My older archives are mainly nature and architecture and of course candid family photos, which I left out of the above sampling. This last year though my eye has been catching all sorts of things as is evident in the following samples of this last weeks photo jaunts.

I still see a definite lean towards nature, and yet I do not think of nature photography as my style. As for a predominate color??? So what do you think, do I have a particular style or color theme? Or, is my style just a Hinze 57?
(Some of these photos have been featured in various post on my blogs this week, here; here and here.)
